Mobile Mail

Product Guide

Sending email to your mobile phone

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can send e-mail to your mobile phone from his or her regular e-mail program (Outlook, Exchange, Lotus Notes, cc:Mail, Hotmail, etc.). There are no additional costs for the sender and no airtime charges for you.
  1. The sender simply composes a new message. In the To: field, they should type your Mobile Mail address in the form: username@cwmobile.com.
  2. The body of the message should be typed as usual and sent like any other e-mail.

Receiving and reading e-mail on your phone

  1. Your message will be received on your phone usually within minutes. Remember that the speed of the message delivery is dependent upon the speed of the Internet and the dial-out settings in the sender's e-mail program.
  2. Read your phone's manual for specific instructions on receiving and reading text messages on your particular phone. Most phones will display a message envelope and will display a message such as Message Received.
  3. The e-mail is received on your handset as a text message. This means that up to 150 characters of the e-mail will be contained in the message. The message will include the sender's email address in the header.
  4. Use the scroll keys to read the e-mail message. A date and time stamp will appear at the end of the message.
Note that attachments cannot be sent to your mobile phone.

Receiving long e-mails on your mobile phone

Cable & Wireless offers an enhanced feature to Mobile Mail customers at no extra charge. Users can receive emails longer than 150 characters by setting the "message parts" to be any number from 1 to 10. This number indicates the number of parts of an email you wish to receive. For example if you set this number to be "5" and a long email is sent to your phone, you will receive 5 text messages (Part 1 of 5, Part 2 of 5, Part 3 of 5, etc) for a total of about 750 characters. Note that this setting will apply to all emails that you receive until you change the setting.
This selection is made on the registration page. If you have already registered, you can modify your account.
